Hello Sailor!

The English Shipmate was founded by silversmith and sailor, Victoria Harwood in 2013.

We believe that life is about the crew you sail with; our voyages of the heart...

Each item is made by hand, so it's a very personal process - a labour of love from raw material.

Shipshape values: We are delighted to have been commissioned by the RNLI.

Suppliers: We carefully source as many materials as possible from the British Isles. All our silver and copper comes from CooksonGold, based in Birmingham's jewellery quarter and hallmarked, where appropriate, by the Birmingham Assay Office.

"Welcome aboard The English Shipmate, I’m silversmith and sailor, Victoria Harwood. We’ve been hammering out unique, handmade designs since 2013, mostly via my notonthehighstreet.com shop.

The English Shipmate is inspired by sailing a friend's old wooden Yawl with my husband Philip.

Also, a desire to work from home to support my little deckhand, who has a highly functioning form of Autism.

So, every time you support my shop, you're helping us keep a steady course as we navigate neurodiversity in all its splendour. So thank you - we like the cut of your jib!

There's no funny business either - no bringing in work from abroad and 'finishing' it here. Handmade in Blightly means everything you see here was created in my tiny studio in Corsham, near Bath.

Everything here is made from scratch. It's been designed on a scrap of paper between the school run and dog walking. Prototypes mocked up for friends to judge over a Gin or two.

If it makes the Gin grade, they are photographed, again by me either with my Pentax or my iPhone, described, researched and launched. But most of all the designs here reflect the people I care for, as I've mostly had them in mind.

So welcome aboard our little ship, it's small but there's always room for you.

It's a great honour to make the small things, for the big moments in life.

Thanks for stopping by,

Victoria, the deckhand, the dog and my First Mate x
